Outback Steakhouse Benefit Luncheon

The Women’s Resource Center hosted its fourth annual benefit luncheon on April 19, 2008 at the Outback Steakhouse in Oceanside. The proceeds from the event went to support the agency in providing programs that benefit victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence.

The Women’s Resource Center received one hundred percent of the ticket sales to help fund their programs. The WRC board chairperson Colleen O’Harra said that “The Outback Steakhouse is to be commended for contributing all of the meals and services for the event as part of their community support and involvement”. In the past, many people who have purchased tickets and then could not attend the event, asked the agency to donate them to the Armed Services YMCA. They were given to Marine families, many of whom have members serving in Iraq.

Applause For A Cause - February 24, 2008

Two hundred attendees at the "Applause For A Cause" party enjoyed wide-screen viewing of the 2008 Academy Awards at the new Carlsbad Sheraton Hotel and Spa. This black-tie optional event was sponsored jointly by the Oceanside San Luis Rey Rotary Club and WRC.

Magical Evening - September 7, 2007

This year's 27th anniversary of the "Magical Evening" charity garden party was the "best ever" according to many of the 300 or so attendees. It was also the 27th year that Bebe and Rusty Grosse opened their beautiful and spacious oak-lined estate for the event.

The theme for the evening was the "Rock and Roll Is Here To Stay". Decorations included posters of many of Rock and Roll's greatest.

Delicious and bountiful culinary and wine selections for the guests were donated by many generous local establishments.

There was eager, vigorous competition for the ninety or more items at the many silent-auction tables. Approximately $50,000 was raised by the event. This will help WRC continue to provide its services to its clients.
